May 5th, Meeting @ Woodland Stake House
The Bollinger County Democrat Club met on Monday May 5th, 2008 at the Woodland Steakhouse in Marble Hill. In attendance were Linda Sanders (candidate for Missouri Senate district 27), Michael Winder (candidate for Missouri State Representative 156th district) and Chester Hayes (candidate for Bollinger County Assessor).
Recent raffle winners Karen Wells and Sonny Freeman were also in attendance. Karen Wells was the winner of a Henry 22 caliber rifle donated by Michael Winder and Sonny Freeman was the winner of a diamond ring which was raffled by the Madison County Democrat Club. Mr. Winder’s daughter Jessica helped present the prizes to the winners. (see pic's on actives page).
Bollinger County Democrat Club President Dennis Brown told the attendees that Joe Allen candidate for Missouri’s 8th Congressional District has expressed interest in holding a “meet and greet” in Marble Hill and members of the club discussed the possibility of getting Missouri Attorney General “Jay” Nixon (who is a candidate for Governor) to attend as well. Plans are under way to secure a date for this.
Other issues discussed at the meeting were… The Bollinger County Democrat Club agreed to continue meeting the first Monday of every month.
Joyce Frymire was nominated for the position of treasurer of the club. The nomination was voted on and passed.
The club also addressed plans for BollingerCounty’s annual “Fall Festival” held in Marble Hill. The Club voted and approved the raffle of a gun for the "Fall Festival".
Michael Winder also addressed the crowd about a conversation he recently had with Clint E. Lacy ( Alderman Ward I , City of Marble Hill) concerning the 4-way stop at the intersection of Highway’s 51 & 34 (Slinkard’s 4-way). Winder noted that in his conversation , Alderman Lacy , stated that the intersection was discussed in the April meeting of the Marble Hill city council and that the Missouri Department of Transportation was responsible for its maintenance. Discussed in the council meeting was the fact that MoDoT repaves the intersection, but it needs to be concreted due to heavy truck traffic. The Bollinger County Democrat Club recommended that its members should contact State Representative Rod Jetton to see if he can step in and discuss this situation with MoDoT, in hopes of getting it fixed.
A motion to adjourn was made shortly thereafter thus bringing a close to the May 5th meeting.
Thanks to Clint and Michael for there help!
